Winter Style: Teo van den Broeke’s Sunspel Edit

Stylist Teo van den Broeke curates six looks from Sunspel’s winter collection.

Teo van den Broeke is a style expert, author and fashion consultant. A contributor to the Financial Times, Evening Standard and Telegraph, the former global editorial director of Soho House and style director of Esquire and GQ, he's well placed to offer some winter styling advice.

In the streets of Marylebone surrounding our Chiltern Street store, Teo styled six looks, photographed by Barney Curran. Each outfit combines Teo's essentials with select pieces from Sunspel’s new collection. With refined silhouettes, layered textures and soft tones, he shows how a few well-chosen details can subtly transform any look. “You can make a very casual outfit feel a bit more considered by paying attention to the details,” he tells us. “A simple neck scarf, a really great pair of sunglasses or a double collar for instance. I think that sense of intention is really key when wearing anything.”

Look 1: "For this first look (below), I’ve gone for a double collar which is great for transeasonal layering as it’s really insulating. You’ve got the breathable pique underneath the Merino which is perfect for autumn winter and you can easily take one off if you get too hot. Make sure you wear different shade polos though or it'll look like you've done it by mistake!"

Pique Polo Shirt, Extra-fine Merino Polo Shirt, Silk Pocket Scarf, Showerproof Cotton Mac, Brushed Cotton Wool Trouser, Suede Chelsea Boot.

Look 2: “Wearing a slightly oversized jacket works well and speaks to the current trend in tailoring. For the kind of unstructured tailoring Sunspel does, it’s better to make it feel a little looser and a bit easier.”

Travel Wool Blazer, Ribbed Polo Neck Jumper, Sunspel Classic T-shirt, Jeans (Teo's own).

Look 3: “I really like this co-ord. In the last few years, we’ve moved away from the suit but this is a step back towards it, with that ease of a two piece but not necessarily something lapelled and formal. With a look like this, keep it simple. You don’t need to overthink it.”

Boiled Wool Zip Jacket, Pleated Boiled Wool Trouser, Cotton Crew Neck jumper.

Look 4: “This look is about the line and the silhouette and using different layers to play with those. You’ve got the tucked-in sweater, the origami of the unzipped jacket and then this gorgeous Harris Tweed coat creates depth.”

Harris Tweed Car Coat, Double Faced Jacket, Extra-fine Merino Roll Neck, Pleated Boiled Wool Trouser, Sunspel x Cheaney Loafer.

Look 5: "I really love a roll neck worn under a denim shirt because you get that lovely texture interplay. With the cord Harrington in the same shade as well, if you were to have too many different colours competing it would be too much."

Cord Harrington Jacket, Cord Chore Trouser, Extra-fine Merino Roll Neck, Button Down Denim Shirt.

Look 6: "Finally, this is a more casual look to demonstrate the versatility of this double-faced coat. It’s perfect for any kind of outfit and can be worn in any scenario - I'm wearing it here with tracksuits."

Double Faced Overcoat, Cable Knit Jumper, Tracksuit Bottoms, Sunspel x Cutler and Gross Sunglasses, Scarf (Teo's own).
